MealPlan

Making weekly meal planning easier for real households.

FRICTION

Meal decisions lived on disposable paper, grocery lists were disconnected, and changing plans was difficult to coordinate across the household.

I BUILT

I identified the problem, designed the experience, and built a mobile-first planning product. I then improved sharing, onboarding, and configuration after watching family members use it.

LEARNING

Designing for other people exposed assumptions I had made while building for myself—and led to real-time sharing and more flexible onboarding.

Wishlist

Turning "we should try this" into something we actually remember.

FRICTION

Restaurants lived in Notes. Movies disappeared into messages. Things we genuinely wanted to try were easy to forget.

INSIGHT

Saving wasn't the problem. Retrieval was. The recommendation needed to become structured information the moment it was captured.

I BUILT

Capture once. Enrich automatically. Google Places adds location data to places. OMDb adds structured metadata to movies. Both become part of one shared recommendation system.

LEARNING

Intent needs an ending. Wishlist became more useful when saving wasn't the final action. Places move to Visited. Movies move to Watched. Then we rate the actual experience.
